My Table magazine Summer Editorial Intern
We love our interns, and we want to make sure that you have a valuable learning experience working with My Table magazine. We are currently looking to hire a summer intern who is interested in becoming immersed in the Houston food scene. We would prefer a junior or senior student, although sophomores will be considered.
We look for an intern who is ready and willing to do the grunt work (e.g. fact-checking, proof-reading), in addition to writing articles for publication. The ideal editorial intern has excellent writing skills, enjoys plunging into a topic and doesn’t mind digging hard for answers. He or she should have good people skills, be a self-starter who doesn’t need hand-holding and be unafraid of asking questions of real people. (We aren’t interested in you if your idea of “reporting” is to cut and paste together articles from the internet.) Reasonable skill with a camera is a bonus -- extra points if you have video-editing experience -- and of course we expect you'll be fluent in Word and Excel. You will need a car.
To apply: Along with your resume, include a couple of your best writing samples (no more than three). These may be articles, business proposals, school publications, class assignments, novels in progress, broadcast manuscripts, poetry, journals, newsletters and/or blogs. We also want to know in 200 words or less: Why do you want to be an editorial intern with My Table magazine?
