Accountant / Under Treasurer
Reports to the Treasurer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accounting and financial reporting, as well as financial analysis and other special projects as assigned § Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards - report to management regarding the finances of establishment § Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results § Responsible for general ledger; manage charts of accounts, establish accounts and assign entries to proper accounts – research discrepancies and reconcile accounts § Supervise the payroll function; ensuring accuracy and timeliness payroll each period, that taxes are computed and paid, and that tax returns are prepared as required by law § Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology § Monitor and reconcile bank accounts by managing disbursements § Monitor reserve accounts and short-term fund investments § Documenting, following, and monitoring internal controls in support of auditing team § Auditing and verifying documents Supervisory Duties: § Reviewing journal entries of staff accountants to ensure accuracy § Planning, assigning, and directing work – addressing complaints and resolving problems |
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Accounting; 12 months experience as an accountant with:
- ACTS and APS;
- GAAP rules, FASB
Demonstrated familiarity with the North American division working policy and accounting manual and its application in everyday operations
Proficiency in FUND accounting
Must be a member of an Adventist Church, supporting the church doctrines and policies
